Musée Bourdelle

Hidden behind a quiet street in the 15th, Musée Bourdelle feels like one of those rare Paris secrets that still belong to locals. Once the home and studio of sculptor Antoine Bourdelle — a student of Rodin — the museum preserves his world almost untouched: light-filled ateliers, half-finished plasters, and courtyards scattered with monumental bronzes. It’s the kind of place that reminds you art was once made by hand, not for spectacle.

In autumn, it’s even better. The sculptures catch the low October light, and the garden smells faintly of wet stone and leaves. Entry to the permanent collection is free, which makes it an easy and grounding pause between busier stops like Montparnasse or the Musée Rodin.

NEW OPENING

Fondation Cartier × Jean Nouvel

Opening on October 25 at 2 Place du Palais-Royal, the Fondation Cartier’s new home marks a major moment for Paris. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the space reimagines the 19th-century Grands Magasins du Louvre into a structure that changes with the art, blurring the line between architecture and exhibition. Inside the restored building, five giant platforms rise and lower to reshape the galleries, creating an ever-changing backdrop for art.

The first exhibition, Exposition Générale, curated by Formafantasma, brings together more than 600 works by 100 artists — including David Lynch, Sarah Sze, Cai Guo-Qiang and Giuseppe Penone — celebrating 40 years of contemporary art and the Fondation’s legacy.

Mythes by Jacquemus

This October, Jacquemus turns his eye from fashion to fine art with Mythes — a curated exhibition that feels like a natural continuation of his universe. Known for transforming places like Versailles, Villa Malaparte, and the lavender fields of Provence into living works of art, Simon Porte Jacquemus now steps into the role of curator and scenographer.

Opening first at the Collège des Bernardins from October 20–24, then moving to Galerie Chenel and Galerie Dina Vierny from October 30 to December 20, Mythes brings together ancient sculptures and works by Aristide Maillol, tracing timeless ideas of form, body, and beauty.
